Third Party Reporting at YCSA
WHAT IS HATE CRIME?
Have you or someone that you know experienced hostile behaviour due to;
race, religion, faith or belief, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity?
A hate crime is motivated by malice or prejudice towards someone on the basis of one or more of these characteristics.
It can include;
· threats made towards you, family or friends
· having graffiti sprayed on possessions
· hurtful remarks and bullying
· being pushed, hit or assaulted
YOU CAN REPORT TO THE POLICE OR TO A THIRD PARTY REPORTING CENTRE
WHAT IS A THIRD PARTY REPORTING CENTRE?
Third Party reporting is about helping you to report the hate crime/incident.
Reporting is important so that the level of Hate Crime can be recognised and action taken eg. by increasing police presence in the area
You don’t have to give your name, your information is still important. But if you don’t give your name it will limit Police investigation and action against the perpetrator
Your report will be handled sensitively and you will be offered support from staff at YCSA.
